Ok before Vista SP1 I had created and FTP server using IIS which worked perfectly. After installing SP1 I can no longer access the properties the Microsoft Management Console just stops working and then looks for a solution which never works then just closes. I uninstalled SP1 and it works again, reinstall SP1 it does not. I would rather not use a third party FTP server so if any one has seen this problem I would appreciate the help. Situation:- I zipped and uploaded my php project folder "Project" (containing lots of sub folders and files) into a shared server using ftp. There I unzipped the folder there and tried running a php script which tries to set the permissions of all the directories inside "Project" to 0755 and all files inside to 0644. Problem description:- On running the script it displays - Warning: chmod() [function.chmod]: Operation not permitted in ... If before chmod - ing the file/folder I write chown() then that also does not happen ( Operation not permitted ). However if I try to create a directory with mod val 0777 through PHP code a directory with modval 0755 is created - Then I am able to chown this directory as "nobody" After owning the directory I am able to change its mod using chmod to 0777. I have executed php info and seen that neither any of these functions are disabled using disable_functions (no function is disabled in fact) nor safe mode is on. Is this occurring because only the superuser can change the ownership of a file? If so is it must that the superuser logs into shell and grants the permissions ? Also which permissions to how many directories have to be given? I have a directory tree. more

I have a site and I was testing out some CMS and Blog programs for my site. I finally found a good one, so I tried to delete the subdomains and folders that were created at the time of installation. Now I just got 2 folders that just don't wanna go away. I tried telling GoDaddy (my hoster) about the issue and they just told me to delete the folders and it should work. I've deleted those two folders over 100 times already and they still stay there. I also tried doing it through the GoDaddy FTP client and nothing. I've tried renaming the folders, nothing. I've tried changing the Numerical value, nothing. THEY ARE STILL THERE! I'm the type of guy who keeps clean and likes it clean. These two folders aren't in use and I don't want them lol. My last option is just to cancel the hosting so that GoDaddy's server can wipe out the server space I was using and reopening, I don't really wanna go that far since my site is halfway developed with already JUST 50 visits a day and slow growing. Help :( more

I've edited an FTP web page to show some addition photos, i've created the location for them on the web page and located them at /images/ownbooks/picture.jpg - all i need to do now is upload the pictures so they fill the images. Ok, so I am designing a flash website for the local band director of my hometown band. I am creating it using Flash Professional 8, and have come along quite nicely. The problem is figuring out a way for the band director to edit and upload the site easily, because this person doesn't know anything about websites, domains, web hosting, etc. I have used dynamic text linked to an xml file, which allows you to edit text within the flash file simply by editing the xml file in notepad or other ascii editor. Also, what is the easiest hosting provider to use when you do not know much about this stuff? It needs to be able to support flash and video...but needs to be as easy as drag and drop...like using web disk or something. so i just created an account on global domains international (GDI) and on my dreamweaver my site it ready to go. and i have made a local root folder but one problem, i don't know how to get it up there. My laptop is running behind a router along with 3 other laptops in this household so we have all been assigned a dynamic ip address. How do I set up this computer to use the static ip address without a hub? Resolved Question: Need help creating a batch job?

I need to write a batch file to run as a scheduled task everyday. It needs to 1. grab .zip files (which contain .gpg files, somedays there is only one zip file, some days there are two files) from an ftp server 2. unzip each zip archive into an individual folder that retains the name of the archive (so "apples.zip," "oranges.zip," should become folders "apples," "oranges,") and move each zip file into a separate archive folder after it is unzipped. 3. It then needs to go into each individual folder and decrypt (with gpg) each .gpg file (when decrypted they are .txt files) steps 1 and 3 I am pretty sure I can figure out myself, step two though is tripping me up a bit. I am not a programmer and using a for loop really confuses me. I am thinking for %%F in *.zip; do unzip `%%F .zip`; done and remember this is for a windows batch file (I think you need to use %% again, I need help... over my head). caveats: windows does not come with a command line unzip program PS: I can pay.sadly pkunzip's -d flag only restores the directory structure of what is inside of the .zip file it does not unzip each zip archive into an individual folder that retains the name of the archive.unix's 'basename' command would probably help a bit, anything equivalent in windows? more

Voting Question: when I deploy my web application, which is created using visual web developer 2008, master page doesn't show

When I deploy a web application including a number of aspx content pages with a master page, the pages on the server site does not show the master page background. I am sure that the ftp master page was successful. What's wrong with that? more

Resolved Question: How To Create Your Own ".com" Website Using Dreamweaver?

I want to build my very own hobby ".com" website but I have no clue how to achieve this. I know how to use Photoshop and Dreamweaver but how do you use it to upload your website to the Internet? How does this slicing thing works? Having a ".com" website requires monthly/yearly payment which I don't mind and I'm gonna use Yahoo as my server. But how is this done? I know it has something to do with the FTP thing whenever you click the 'Manage Site' link in Dreamweaver but how does it work? As apache directory indexing is disabled in many subdirectories and as not all files are accessible merely by spidering from site root via HTTP I would like your help finding software, preferably free, that will allow me to create a sitemap via FTP to feed to an HTTP spider.
