Voting Question: How do I burn an ISO using Nero 7? I am trying to make Windows 2003 Server Trial a bootable CD to install it.?

I download Windows Server 2003 trial from this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/r2/trial/installinstruct.mspx I downloaded and saved the .img file to my hard drive. I used Nero Essential 7 to try to make it a bootable disc to prepare the Server 2003 install. Here is the steps i tried with Nero: 1. Open Nero as follows: Start > All Programs > Nero 7 Essentials > Data > Nero Express Essentials 2. Click on "Data DVD" or "Data CD" (either one should work...this step doesn't seem to make much sense if you're creating an ISO from files in C:\ drive....just humor me...) 3. Click "Add" 4. Select the file(s) or folder you wish to make an ISO image from (note: you can select an entire drive like D:\ if you want) 5. Click "Add" 6. Click "Close" 7. Click "Next" 8. Set Current recorder: Image Recorder[DVD] 9. Click "Burn" 10. Enter a filename and specify ISO as the file type. 11. Click "Save" 12. Click "Burn" Did all this and then wrote it to disc. However, the disc is still not bootable, even though it is converted to ISO file. How do I create a bootable disk using Nero 7 Essential? 10 points to whoever provides the best step by step instructions.  more

Resolved Question: New install of Windows 2003 Server?

I have an existing peer-to-peer network with machines running XP. I bought a Dell with Server 2003 loaded. The install instructions say to hook all the existing machines to the new server during configuration. But it recommends the server provide DHCP services. If I disable DHCP on the existing router, how will the client machines get an IP address before the server is up and functioning? Seems like a chicken and egg scenario. Related, I have DSL coming in to a linksys router. (Only one network port in the new server.) Do I need to keep the router between the DSL modem and my new gigabit switch, or will the server handle all the functions that the router now does (server has settings for PPPoE info)? Can the DSL modem connect directly to the switch? Do I need a cross-over cable to do this? more

Resolved Question: GPO + Software install: Doesn't work. Need help for my network technologies class?

No one in class can get the software install to automatically load on the client pc. I'll try to sum it up the best I can. Have a class that we are working with Windows Server 2003. Have a Domain setup on our host pc. Have a second pc that is a client and can logon the domain. It can access the public folder that we setup. (We also put the test program Windows Defender MSI in there). We installed GPMC and are using Group Policy Manager (we also tried a similiar method in AD Users and Comps). So, we name our policy Push1 and we mapped it as \\server\folder\file.msi as per Microsoft's instructions (not browse). We double checked the members of/rights area and the clientxp (our test login name) has that. Both under the computer management and user management we tried setting up these GPO Software installs. Weird thing is that if we restart the server, it auto installs on there. I double checked and it shows it as comp/user management for our domain not the local pc Any ideas? Can add info more
