Last month my company started work on this person's website which sells awards and trophies. We made a deal with him. It was a $6200 sale for me. On the contract, he didnt want web hosting with us. Let me back up, he wanted to turn his normal website into a e-Commerce website which requires a dedicated server. We run other client's sites on dedicated servers. He refused saying he has sites all on network solutions website and he doesnt want to change hosts. We asked him various times if he is running windows 2003 and dedicated server. Network solutions we later found out doesnt run either. So about a month, we were working on his site which is bs because he didnt So back and forth we were also trying to figure out his name server because he bought his name server overseas which is stupid. Now I had to keep explaining to him why we cant work on his site because he has to have his name server pointing to us and we need his ftp login information so we can upload files to his site. He is so ignorant of all this. Today I called him saying we need to move his site over to our server because network solution doesnt allow us to install sitegalaxy onto network solution. Then he got upset and said " just give us all the images your company has done for us", " we are done working with you , it seems that you guys are not capable of doing the work we asked "...etc I said I will contact him later today. First off, we did finish his site . We gave him access to his own administrative control panel so he can upload the images and files himself. What we are trying to do is turn his site online by replacing it with a site he has now. What we are going to do is trick him by having a redirect routing pointing to our server when he assumes that hes actually going to his server. So whose fault is this? What have we done wrong? I keep telling him that Im just the messenger for my boss and dont blame me because I dont want this to be added to my resume when i find another job in the future. Btw, is market manager worth mentioning in my resume when it has no experience with networking? 1. He did mention he did not want our hosting. We told him that he needs to get dedicated server. He says why not use our network solution hosting we have? We told him its not dedicated because e-Commerce sites need larger space but he kept ignoring and said just use ours. So we just continued work. 2. He didnt pay all. He said once his site is online then he will pay the remaining cost which is $800. Right now, we are trying to figure out how to get his site up and running using network solution's web host which is 100 gigs. We redirect just to get his site up and running and move on. Its giving everyone on our company headaches.Helpful person , let me explain some things to you . First, go back to college and learn to read. We did check network solutions. They dont offer dedicated servers. Period. We told the client numerous times, he still did not understand. We offered him to let us host it since we use dedicated servers, no budge. No, we want to host the site because we do 24/7 backup, free debugging, free antivirus, if anything happens to the site, we can fix it right away. Thats also our maintence combination. Plus, if he has any graphics that needs changing like vacation notice, we can change it for free, no charge. We did find out what operation system they use. Its linux and windows. I told him that he needs to use windows, he says " we'll i'll buy you a windows pro package"..which doesnt help , its not dedicated. His name server is at oznic which is switzerland. We gotten no response from them about this issue as of yet. We are professional. We have over 60+ clients from americasmart.com moreVoting Question: Belkin Router help - HTTP port forwarding?

I have three questions, please answer them with explanation. Q-1) You are a network administrator for Uk. The network consists of a single Active Directory domain named Uk.com. Your company acquires a company named Usa. The USA network consists of a single Active-Directory domain named USA.com. A server named Server32 is a network-management application server in the USA.com domain. Server32 accesses all of the desktop client computers to perform automated software upgrades and hardware inventory. The network-management software on Server32 references desktop computers by unqualified host names, which are resolved to client name.USA.com by using a DNS server. You join Server32 to your domain to become server32.Uk.com. The Server32 IP address is 10.10.10.90. You are gradually migrating all USA.com desktop client computers to your domain to become clientname.Uk.com. You do not have access to the USA.com DNS server. When Server32 attempts to apply an update to the client computers, the network-management software returns many alerts that say that desktop client computers cannot be found. You want to allow the network-management software on Server32 to resolve unqualified client computer host names in USA.com or Uk.com, and you want to use minimum amount of administrative effort. What should you do? A.) On the DNS Server for Uk.com, add a zone for USA.com. Create a host ( A) record for server32.USA.com that points to 10.10.10.90. B.) On Server32 in System Properties, type USA.com in the Primary DNS suffix of this computer field in the DNS suffix and NetBIOS Computer. C.) On Server32, configure a Hosts file that contains the name and IP address of every notebook computer. D.) On Server32, in Advanced TCP/IP Settings, add USA.com and Uk.com to the Append these DNS suffixes (in order) setting. Q-2) You are the network administrator for your company. The network consists of a single Active Directory domain name abc.com. The domain Dns Servers are configured as shown in the following table. Server Name - IP Addresses - Server Operating System - Server Role - Server1 - 10.10.1.222 - Windows Server 2003 - Domain Controller Server2 - 10.10.1.126 - Windows 2000 Server - Member Server Server3 - 10.10.1.241 - Windows Server 2003 - Dpmain Controller Server4 - 10.10.1.192 - UNIX - Not applicable Server5 - 10.10.1.245 - Windows Server 2003 - Domain Controller DNS Role Server1- Standard Primary Server2 - Standard Secondary Server3 - Standard Secondary Server4 - Standard Secondary Server5 - Standard Secondary You uninstall Dns from Server2 and reconfigure Server2 as a file server. Then you reconfigure Server4 as a caching-only server. Next, you reconfigure the domain controllers to use Active Directory-Integrated DNS zones. You need to eliminate unnecessary zone transfer activity on the network. There are Server2, Server3, Server4 & Server5 IP addresses in the notify box which is on the Zone transfer tab. What should you change in the notify dialog box, Write the IP address or addresses which should be included. Answer) Write the answer here with the explanation... Q-3) You are the network administrator for Web hosting company. All servers run Windows Server 2003. All client computers run Windows Xp Professional. Your company is assigned the following IP Address ranges by ISP. 131.107.10.0 through 131.107.10.255 131.107.11.0 through 131.107.11.255 The company’s data center contains 400 Windows Server 2003 computers and consists of two subnets named Subnet A and Subnet B. Subnet A contains 200 Servers and uses the 131.107.10.0 network address. Subnet B also contains 200 Servers and uses the 131.107.11.0 network address. All server IP addresses are assigned by DHCP. All computers in the data center have valid Internet-accessible IP addresses. As a result of a corporate acquisition, 200 additional servers will be added to your company’s data center within one month. The new servers will be placed on the network segment that maps to subnet A. The existing router does not have the capacity for additional subnet, and the budget does not allow the purchase of a new router. You will need to add the additional servers to the existing subnet A. The ISP assigns you the additional IP Address range 131.107.12.0 through 131.107.12.255. You need to change the IP addressing scheme to accommodate all required servers in Subnet A and Subnet B. I want to setup a 'strange?' network at home. I want my Windows 2003 server to be the only host visible on my main WLAN ADSL Netgear Router. (still with me?). Right, next i want to ALSO hard wire my Server 2003 into a cable version wireless router (the type you cant plug into your phone line - you need a cable modem). The server is therefore on two networks. It gains internet connection from the ADSL and i am hoping it will be able to broadcast this onto the second network its on (where all my laptops and PDAs will be so they can access the internet kind of through the server). Is this possible and what are the implications on internet speed on the laptops/pdas? ps the reason i want to do this is to protect the laptops from being visible on the main network i know from the internet, they only see the ip of the ADSL router but i have worked with hackers and they can somehow connect to the main network in some instances. So, i want to make sure that even if someone got in, all they see is a server and even if they wreck it, ill just reinstall Server 2003 trial (free for 180 days) oh and also there is another PC on the main ADSL network (used for downloading) so thats kind of why i want to isolate the laptops/important devices with important data on the network away from the open items such as the server and the downloading machine and no, i dont want to plug the cable modem router straight into the ADSL router (i want to use the server for something!!!)all advise is appreciated - in response to GTB - i know what you mean by using a server as first point of attack is foolish - maybe in a company but at home its all i need the server for (in fact, technically i dont need it but im just interested in using a server OS). its a £60 quid machine that i whacked a gig ram into and 2.6 P4 processor (and those were free from work) so believe me its not expensive (and i downloaded the free trial Srv 2003) - also, i dont think i can afford a high end router moreResolved Question: What can i do with a server?

Hi all! I have two servers, both running Windows 2003 standard. I want to create a web and email server from the one as the other one i would like to keep independant for security reasons more than anything. My question is i know how to create a domain and AD, but i own several web domains that i would like to host in house, so how do i add additional domains to my existing one? Everytime i run dcpromo it wants to remove AD, then i can only set up one domain again, so i'm going around in circuls! Anybody out there know how to do this? I know I'd use bridged networking ideally, but our web host only gives us one IP address so that's no longer an option. And NAT doesn't seem to work to well with our windows 2003 server...it's upload speed drops from 10mpbs to 300kbps with the NAT option enabled, that's terrible! So I started thinking maybe I'd be better off using host networking and create an internet connection sharing within the 2003 server so it maintains those upload speeds as well with vmware. The problem is, is that I enabled ICS in Windows 2003 and I enabled it on the VMware network adapter vmnet1, which is host only networking adapter. When I start my virtual machine it shows it has a local ip address assigned to it but no default gateway and no access to the web. I checked the status of the adapter and it shows that it's sending packets but isn't receiving a whole lot. I can't seem to figure out why ICS isn't working because it seems to have a local IP assigned to it. Can someone please help? moreResolved Question: How can I get VMware to run as a service on Windows 2003?
I've checked every google search and tried them all...the only thing that I want to be able to do is run VMware whether its the workstation or server version and be able to keep the virtual machines running after I log off the hosted windows 2003 server. they say to run each the server and the workstation as a service and I've tried both and they still show that the virtual machine logs after I log off the server. I even checked the services and it shows it's in there (I've even used firedaemon with no luck) and it still shows that the service runs but the virtual machines STILL turn off, I checked by using logmein and it shows that the computer is no longer connected when I log off the server. Can someone please help me by coming up with some sort of solution? I really need to be able to run the virtual machines on 2003 server with either vmware server or workstation. We are running Windows 2000 Pro workstations and a Windows Server 2003 file server. My bosses opted for a hosted Exchange solution rather than an in-house Exchange server. We signed up with a company who have us connecting through a VPN. The VPN connects and stays connected, but Outlook 2003 will either not connect to their Exchange server or it will connect for a while and then disconnect. I was on with several of their tech support agent all day yesterday with no resolution. They say something on our domain (network) is blocking the OUtlook connection. But, the IT guy we use for the stuff that's over my head says it is domain independant. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? moreResolved Question: Customer asked for server authentication. Setup program for local users turns out they use Active Directory...
Ok so heres the issue. We developed a massive web-based tool for a customer of ours and it originally was developed with built in authentication(unsecure) they asked us to implement server authentication which we did through creating local user accounts which we tied to a local user group which had access to specific items including the database. We sent them incremental versions and had no response. Finally today we sent them the final product and they come back saying they use Active Directory on thier servers...problem is, I have no idea how Active Directory works and we also dont have a machine setup with Active Directory for test. Does Active Directory still work the same way with users and groups? Basically all that has to be done is a group has to be created that is then given permissions to the folder hosting the application. It also is added to the MSSQL users list to give the group access to the database. Hi, I am running Windows 2003 Server with IIS installed on it. I want that my site is hosted on my very own system such that whenever any request for that website encountered, the site contents will be transferred from my own system including GUI, Database Values and other values. Thanks in advance.I can't use Linux as the whole setup needs to be changed for that in my company. Moreover, I am using a web application developed using ASP.Net and C#.Net.
