Open Question: My computer is messed up and i need help fixing it?

my little brother has been on my computer for the last 2 days doing something, he says just checking out forums but i know he has been doing other things ((porn)) so now i need help fixing the problems he made, here is a list of problems that have been going on lately since he has been on remember, all this has happened right after my little brother was on --if i type to fast the computer will not pick it up and i have to go back to check everything --it takes about a minute to get to a new page --a pop-up will come out on any site im on, even yahoo --every time i go to internet options, then privacy, all the cookies will be allowed, even when i set it up to medium, as soon as i move to a new page, it resets back to all now i scanned the computer, deleted all the temporary fills, put the pop-up blocker on high, and removed any suspicious programs that migt be spyware, but the problems still occure, please help me!!! more

Open Question: what the hell is wrong with my computer? very poor performance and pop-ups not being blocked.?

I've had a sony vaio model VGN-N150G for two years now. lately the performance has been diminishing. it has become very slow and programs that I'm running get stuck often and opening any files or programs takes so long. specially, the internet. I've already tried defragmenting, running scandisk, running the disk cleanup, scanned it for virus/spyware/adware, deleting files. and recently pop-ups keep popping up when I'm on the internet even though I have a pop-up blocker. I've already tried everything I know of and still have not seen much improvement. I'm not sure it might have to do with the RAM or hard drive, but if anyone has the slightest clue on what's going please let me know. I am very frustrated at this point and don't want to have to resort to breaking the damn thing. I am specially concerned about the pop-up problem, though. I read that that might be because I have adware on my computer. but how can that be if I have protection against that? and I've already ran the scan for that and everything was supposedly clear. again, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. thanks in advance. more

my computer has been acting strange lately. its been running slow and a get A LOT of pop-ups, even though my pop-up blocker is on and i keep getting anti-virus pop-ups telling me to download it..so i've done some searches and free scans and i'm pretty sure i have adware, spyware, malware and trojans. i read somewhere that a sure way to get rid of it is to backup my entire hard disk then re-install everything. i'm using an external hard drive to do this and the windows back up wizard, but since i'm not positive where the spyware etc is coming from, i don't know if i should backup all the information on my computer or just the my documents and settings or choose individually, but then i don't know what things to choose! help please? more

Okay, well I was trying to download photoshop from limewire and it gave me a virus called Spyware Guard 2008. It disguised itself as a spyware blocker, everytime I close it, it comes back after about 30 seconds. Mcafee that I JUST BOUGHT didn't get rid of it. The thing is I just got a virus moved about a month ago for $90 with Mcafee and bought the premium virus and spyware prevention for $45. So I don't want to spend much money. Resolved Question: Why is my computer doing this?

My computer used to be super fast, and it was amazing. But one day, while I was on the internet, all these random things started installing without my doing and alerts from my spyware blocking programs came up. These programs made my computer run dramatically slower, and half the time it just froze up and I couldn't do anything. I uninstalled the programs, and used Spybot and lots more to try to clean the mess. It only helped a little, and my computer still freezes lots, random ads pop up on my screen (it's not my popup blocker~), and my computer is extremely slow (it's not my internet or anything). So my question is, how can I fix this? Should I get a professional to look at my computer, or is there a good program I can buy/download that will fix it? more

Resolved Question: Web pages are disappearing and virus blockers are failing!?

First of all I noticed that the automatic check for AVG free was turned off. When I tried to turn it on, it said that I needed to go to Control Panel>System>Automatic Updates to turn it on manually. When I when there, it said that automatic updates were already on. To make sure, I hit apply, and then checked AVG. It was still off. So I tried running MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to see if there were any viruses. It would not turn on at all. When I tried to go to www.malwarebytes.org, it said there was no web page with that address. Assuming that I spelled the website wrong, I went to google and searched for malwarebytes and got the same websites. They both would not work. I KNOW these web pages exist, but they keep disappearing. Finally, I searched for a malware remover on google and I got a link to geek squad free spyware scanner. I clicked on the link and went to the website. There was another link for the actual scan. I clicked on it, and it said that the web page didn't exist. There are so many problems that are all occuring at once. And for extra information, the trojan horses, SHeur and SHeur2, keep attacking. The two trojans are constantly attacking, multiplying, and changing their extensions. Since the viruses started attacking, I also started getting random sites appearing for no reason. They don't appear in the format of a pop-up like the "Click here for a _______", but they seem like actual websites that just open at random. Can anyone help me, please?In addition, AVG will not update and cannot connect to the AVG website. more

My computer gets many pop-ups and Spyware Guard keeps showing up. I've removed all the files of Spyware Guard at the Control Panel but it still shows up. I have McAfee. I have to restart my computer 100 times after turning it on for it to start working. today, i finally uninstalled norton anti-virus because it was raping my computer. so after it was gone i google'd free anti virus software and came to this site. anyway people gave alot of suggestions for anti virus/ anti spyware/ firewalls so i downloades a few. unfortunatly everytime i download one it says something along the lines of "we cant establish an internet connection with the server to compleate the installation" but as you can see by me being on this website, my internet works fine.. any help is strongly appreciated more

ok so i've notice that my computer has been lagging recently. just a few days ago, while on internet explorer 7 i began to get random pop-ups. i checked my pop-up blocker and it was doing just fine. i closed the pop ups and rebooted, thinking that rebooting would solve the problem... it didnt. now every time i open a new page or a new tab i get one of a handfull of pop ups: antivirus 2009, precata.com, pantomi.com or a few others. i ran a virus/spyware/malware/etc scan and found myself up to my ears in trojans, rogue files, backdoors, and various other nasties. i ran a windows defender scan and removed countless trojans and security threats but i still have endless pop ups and i get a message that reads: "the instruction at < *one of various numbers*> referenced memory at < *same number as above* >. the memory cannot be read. Click OK to terminate the program" i have no idea what to do! i haven't downloaded anything at all recently and no matter how many security threats i remove, i still have the SAME DAMN POP-UPS! information that may be usefull: i have a windows xp (service pack 2) and have both mozilla and internet explorer (7), both are having pop- up problems.by the way howfuzzy. ... and my internet connection is effected (something like adware, spyware, troyan ???). i get a static blank page when i try to get online. my malwarebytes adware program, 'spyware terminator' and mcafee anti virus cannot remove it. i have tried take my computer back to a previous check point date (forgotten terminology)...no luck! i am beginning to worry. i have an annoying pop up blocker that comes up with pro-antispyware, which now i descover is a false program ..... i downloaded it in my haste to remove the original bug (yes i am really inteligent! we learn). i read malwarebytes should remove pro-antispyware. no. it still pops up like a jack in the box giving me scares. i also read a pop up note 'cyberlox' if remember correctly could be a problem...not sure if that aother false program. can i try anything esle to primarily get back online, and then what can i do to remove these buggers ? i figure i will probably have to purchase a specialist program to get rid of these, but if i am not online i am stuck. note i am not tooo technically minded on the computer. thanks for your time and attention. more

Voting Question: McAfee SiteAdvisor Warning...Help please?

So everytime I go into the internet, a warning box comes up saying: "SiteAdvisor is being prevented from updating its registry information. This can be caused by some Spyware blockers. SiteAdvisor won't be able to protect you until this problem is fixed." Does anyone know how to make this go away? I'm not going to turn off any of my spyware blockers because I just got the Antivirus 2009 virus off of my computer. Please help!If I close the box, it comes back up five seconds later. more

i just installed a virus blocker on my computer and i need it to scan a program that continues to pop up. the pop up says i have a security problem and i need to install all kinds of stuff. i know the pop up is infected with a virus because my AVG software has already told me that and its pretty obvious that its not authentic from internet explorer, but i need to to scan the open pop up program and the tray at the bottom toolbar and remove it. what is the file location for something in the tray? im using windows vista home and AVG security. the name of the virus is Exploit rogue spyware scanner and the other is Fake antispyware scanner or something like that. just the name of the tray location would help a lot, but if you have had this virus and gotten rid of it can you tell me how? more

i was using mcafee it seemed good no probs but then it expired and now im using bigpond and scanned and it said i had 2 viruses so either mcafee didnt pik them up or bigpond is fake anyways i would like a security programme with antivirus and spyware and inbuilt firewall and phishing filter and popup blocker at least a reliable programme with those features at least so i dont have to have 2 or 3 different programmes and wont slow my computer much if at all ive heard of avg or avast or avira what version of those covers all that price doesnt matter but i think those 3 a pretty cheap best answer gets 10 points. Each time I open firefox or IE and I go on different sites, pop ups keep on appearing, and it appears on my tabs. Sometimes its antivirus 2009, I know its a scam because I got hit with it a few months ago, but I cleaned up that mess. But random pop ups keeps appearing on my tabs. And my pop up blockers aren't blocking it. I scanned with my anti-virus, and with malwarebytes, and i got some trojans, but i deleted them and my problem is still appearing. Don't know what to do. A PC with two users. One uses IE, the other Firefox. The firefox account has over 250 porn sites listed in history visited in one hour (no non-porn browsing). When my boyfriend turns on his computer, without clicking on anything, a ton of windows for random different websites pop up. His computer says he has a spyware problem but he can't seem to get rid of it. He's used Glary Utilities to try get rid of it. Hello all, Currently when i am online, using any web browser, sites will come up in separate windows and appear that way on the task bar. They are not pop-ups from sites im viewing (i know this as i use firefox which has a blocker and these windows appear while im on sites that would not have pop-ups, especially advertising plastic surgery or blinds etc.) but rather for some reason websites are being loaded onto my computer without me doing anything! My initial responce is that it was adware or something. I installed spy bot in order to scan for this as well as a boot scan by avast. Though they found some issues that i have dealt with, the problem still is present. Any ideas of what exactly is going on here and how i may get rid of it would be fantastic and will stop hillary blinds disrupting my youtube viewing! Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Spyware/virus computer problems.?

I have had problems with my computer lately. It is running slow and every time I load a new internet page a popup comes up (I have a popup blocker). Many of these popups are advertising popup and virus removal programs. However I am really reluctant to download these programs because of the fact I've never had these before. I downloaded a removal program I've heard to be good, ThreatFire. I have run several scans of my computer and found and cleaned trojan viruses and spyware stuff. But if I wait a few hours between scans it finds new things. Is it possible that ThreatFire is not finding something that is creating new viruses on my system that it can find (if that makes sense)? Do different spyware/virus removal programs find different things? Would it make sense to have more than one of them? If you have any suggestions or know of any programs that may help me I would appreciate it. Oh and please keep answers in simple terms as I am a noob :) Thanks in advance, Chris. more

Few days ago I was online and a download popped up and load on my computer. I AntispywareXP2009. There was no ok or cancel to stop it and it loaded fast. I have a lot of spyware blockers and none of them caught this. My sister had the same one get on her computer. My dad has reformatted her hard drive and it keeps coming back. I was told by a friend that the only way he knows how to get rid of it is to wipe the hard drive and load a new OS on the computer then re-load XP on. Now here is my problem. I have a Averatec 3700 AV3715-EH1 laptop and all the information drivers and such are loaded on the hard drive, no back up/ re-boot/ recovery disk. So when I load the new OS I will lose all that info. Could some one tell me where to find the disk or drivers for my computer or how to get this spyware/trojan off my computer before it does real damage to my computer? Also a GOOD anti-spyware/ trojan/ malware/ virus scanner/ blocker? Ok programs I have Spybot, Ad-aware, McAfee, Ad-Watch, and Malwarebytes. more
